The Game Awards 2016 – We Watched, So You Don’t Have To.

Well, that’s a number of hours of my life I’ll never get back.

The big winners of the night were Blizzard with Overwatch (4 awards, including Game Of The Year), Bethesda with Doom and Dishonored 2 (2 for Doom, 1 for Dishonored 2) and Naughty Dog with Uncharted 4 (2 awards). A word of congratulations to Boogie2988 for winning the Trending Gamer award.

Highlights included awarding Hideo Kojima the Industry Icon Award, as it also featured a trailer for his latest game, Death Stranding.

I won’t be picking up Mass Effect: Andromeda myself, but it’s only fair to point towards the gameplay trailer that was on the show.

The other biggie was Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I did find the Prey trailer to be pretty interesting – it looks like it’s going to be a well-stylized game. That seems to be about all I can gather from the footage so far, but I will be keeping my fingers firmly crossed.

In other news, Titanfall 2 multiplayer will be free this weekend across all platforms, so it may be a good time to give it a try.

The live performance of some tunes from Doom was the audio highlight – in fact, the less that can be said about the other musical performances, the better.

Finally, what would a games award show be without a cosplay of an razor in human form – so here’s Hydroman. I’ve got no idea why.

Schick Hydro man

Schick Hydroman – whatever the fuck that is.
